The battle for Minnesota’s Senate seat has finally ended, and former Air America host Al Franken is now officially the winner. The Minnesota Supreme Court affirmed early Tuesday afternoon that Franken won the state’s senate seat from former Republican Senator Norm Coleman in a razor-thin election by just 312 votes out of about 2.9 million. Minnesota’s Republican governor Tom Pawlenty said that since Coleman will not be seeking another appeal, he will sign the certification of election, making Senator Franken the 60th Democrat in the US Senate. Franken will now give the Democrats the power to end any filibuster that the Republicans throw at them, effectively making them unstoppable.
