Barack Obama is moving quickly to fill the positions of his administration, and he isn’t showing signs of slowing down. In today, Obama announces Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico will be joining the cabinet as commerce secretary.
Richardson is currently serving his second term as New Mexico’s Governor, and once was the United Nations ambassador and energy secretary under former President Bill Clinton. Gov. Richardson also holds seven years in the House of Representatives to his name. Barack Obama added that Richardson is a leading "economic diplomat for America. During his time in state government and Congress, and in two tours of duty in the Cabinet, Bill has seen from just about every angle what makes our economy work and what keeps it from working better."
President-Elect Obama has already filled positions for over half of his staff, and even with a recession in hand, Barack looks into the future with a buoyant attitude saying, "We have everything we need to renew our economy, we have the ingenuity and technology, the skill and commitment — we just need to put it to work."
